Grade I winner Roxanne Trunnell became just the second woman to win individual dressage gold for the USA across both the Olympics and the Paralympics. Vicki Sweigart was the first, winning double gold at the Atlanta Paralympics in 1996.

SIR LEE PEARSON showed why he is a legend of the game with a compassionate display of horsemanship to win his eighth individual and 12th Paralympic gold. Reverse that number and it is 21 years since his first at Sydney 2000. But those medals are rather a gilded lid beneath which lies a story richer than metal.
