The ‘Bowness Photography Prize’ is a dynamic survey of contemporary Australian photographic practice. This year amateur, emerging and professional photographers alike were invited to enter still photo-based imagery, including analogue and digital media, produced since 1 May 2020.

The exhibition of over 50 shortlisted works is on display in the gallery and online, with a myriad of themes and topics reflecting on the joys and challenges of our most recent times. The 2021 winner will be announced on 14 October.

Sage Advice to the Serious Young Artist

What makes a successful artist tick? In this uplifting exhibition, seasoned artists such as Dean Bowen, Philip Davey, Pamela Irving, Amy Kennedy, Jo Reitze and Wayne Viney give sage advice to their very serious younger selves and, in turn, to current emerging artists.
