Red Steagall: [Your] family has been in this part of the [equine] world for a long, long time and very instrumental in ranching and the horse business. It’s only natural that [you] would gravitate to handling… the “Hollywood” horses [used in] movies. How did you get into that?

Dumb luck, I guess. There was a neighbor down across. I didn’t know him but going back and forth from town to his house, he always noticed all these saddle horses that were running in his horse pasture by the headquarters. And so, he just pulled up one day and asked me if I’d be interested in doing something like that. I said, “Sure.” He wanted to come over and take a look at all the horses.
