TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE

Carol was sipping her morning coffee, perusing the local paper, when she let out a scream.

David, who’d been working in the office, came rushing in with a look of concern.

‘Has something happened?’ he gasped.

Carol glanced up at her husband, her eyes sparkling.

‘Yes, something’s happened. Well, something’s about to happen, anyway.’

‘Don’t be so cryptic!’ David opened the fridge and took out a carton of orange juice. ‘I heard you scream. I thought it had to be something dramatic.’

‘It is dramatic,’ replied Carol with a wry smile.

David sighed as he poured himself a glass of juice.

‘I GET REALLY ANXIOUS AT TIMES LIKE THIS’

‘That film company that did Pride & Prejudice is coming here – to our little town – to film Howards End. It’s an open casting. Anyone can go along!’

‘OK…’ said David slowly. ‘And that’s exciting because..?’
