A mother’s gift

My mum died on June 30. As a bookkeeper, it was important to her that she closed out and balanced at the end of the financial year. She was in hospital seeing the music and floating on a cloud of the finest opiates, a state she’s been wanting to achieve since first hearing the Hot August Night album in 1972.
