It took me two years to fully get over this experience. On the specialist front I saw two endocrinologists, a nutritionist and three dermatologists. The third dermatologist finally listened to me. I had found out from the endocrinologist that my cortisol levels were very high which affected my skin, and that the steroids had compounded my problems. My severe pustular acne appeared almost overnight because of the oral steroids and weaning from them incorrectly. I saw this dermatologist (and other specialists) for 6 months and they really helped me through this stage of my life. However, I feel that it was mainly my research and the support of my family that helped me the most whilst I was recovering.
