Falling for Food

I’m one of those people who essentially live to eat. The question of what’s for lunch or dinner is almost always top of mind — and I look forward! For years, mealtime was agony for him, which was a mystery to his parents. Grey’s birthday is this month, which reminds me of the year he turned 5 and I took the day off to spend with him. As a treat, I told him he could choose place he wanted for lunch (even an ice cream parlor would do!). His response: “Lunch?! Why do we have to have on my birthday?!” Over the years, he has actually come around to enjoying mealtime (though I doubt that eating will ever be his favorite activity), and has even developed an interest in shopping for food, especially at farmers’ markets. And this time of year is perfect for it:
