I was a bad lesbian

I’ve always been a bad lesbian.To be fair, I missed orientation. Athletic lesbians got inducted in high school. They didn’t think to collect the femmes in drama club, so I got left behind. It wasn’t until I saw a handsome black and white photo of k.d. lang in a newspaper that I was beamed up to the mothership. I was late, everybody was paired off and I just kept getting mistaken for an outsider.

By the time I went to college, though, I was certain I’d be at home with my gays. But the gays wouldn’t have me.
