orn in Leeds, I have a vivid memory of visiting Kirkstall Abbey when I was 12. I recall my mother mentioning Fountains and Rievaulx Abbeys (“A Tale of Two Abbeys,” November/December 2022), but unfortunately I never got to visit them. Byland and Jervaulx are new names to me that I will explore on the internet.
