Every few months a fresh DJI drone crosses the Horizon desk, and every few months we feel compelled to tell you about it because, frankly, nobody does drones like DJI. So here we have the DJI Mini 3, the bafflingly late-arriving sibling of the existing Mini 3 Pro, and it might just be the most exciting consumer drone ever.

That’s not because of its features, as such; this drops the intelligent proximity sensors of the Pro spin, for example, and others work out far smarter on paper even considering the arm-long list of fancy flight features here. It’s also nothing particularly new – more an iterative upgrade of the Mini 2 than a revolutionary bit of new drone tech. But it’s a winner because DJI has, in the Mini 3, made a drone for absolutely everyone. This suits beginners to twin-stick flying as much as it does professionals looking to stow a secondary scouting craft in their bag.
