YOUR HORSE'S TRAINING NEW SERIES IN ASSOCIATION WITH SCHOOLING SOLUTIONS | POSITION/TRANSITIONS

TODAY BRINGS ONLY Fred Garrett and the 18.2hh giant Herbie's second lesson with dressage coach and judge Kim Ratcliffe. On the agenda is improving Herbie's transitions and Fred's position.

Having been riding for just threeand-a-half years, and with a lot of young horse to work with, the focus of the session is getting Fred in the right place to ride Herbie more forward.

The pair starts by warming up in walk. Despite his size, Herbie — passported as The BFG — meanders slowly down the long side having a good look around the arena. Kim is, however, keen to have him stepping out with far more purpose.
