Pick Me Up! Special

I GET KNOCKED DOWN…

Making sure my dad was comfortable, I made him a cup of tea with some delicious biscuits.

Having had open heart surgery just three days before, I wanted to make sure my dad was a settled as possible. Especially as I was heading out all day.

You see, it was my best friend Emily’s 24th birthday and Dad was adamant I should go and celebrate rather than staying home with him.

I’d moved back to the family home to look after Dad post-surgery but he wanted me to enjoy myself, too.

‘There’s a sandwich in the fridge for your lunch,’ I fretted. ‘And there are plenty of snacks on the worktop.’

‘I’ll be fine,’ Dad smiled back at me. ‘Go and have fun!’
