Longing to belong

Ever had the feeling that you don’t quite fit in? Many of us have times when a sense of unease with those around us weighs heavily. This feeling isn’t about blending in or conforming, it means finding a place in which we’re cherished for our uniqueness. Research has shown that, however strong and independent we might be, a sense of belonging is vital to our happiness and our outlook – being without it can lead to stress, depression and illness. The feeling of belonging, on the other hand, can bring security and strength, giving us the support we need to allow us to grow. But how can we obtain it?
