WITH ever-rising insurance costs especially affecting young drivers, it’s no wonder many parents are trying to find group 1 cars to get their children on the road. While a lower insurance group should usually lead to reduced premiums, underwriters build up their own claims profiles for the various models on the market, which is why some low-group cars can cost more to insure than an equivalent model with a higher rating. So don’t assume that a group 1 car is automatically the cheapest to cover.
