SURFING IN THE BALTIC STATES

I will introduce this piece by first introducing myself. You could say I’m a surfer, although I’m not that great at it, since I grew up in Melbourne and never got to spend enough time in the water. Unfortunately, wind waves don’t break off the St Kilda pier too often.

I am a solo artist by the name of Abraham Kenny (aka The Diamond Blow), a musician currently on tour in Ukraine, playing shows in an act of solidarity with the Ukrainian people against Russia’s invasion.

In 2007, I left Australia with one hundred copies of my first album packed into my suitcase to become a ‘famous’ artist in Northern Europe, don’t ask me why. After living in Stockholm for two years and working as a postman, I eventually moved eastwards across the Baltic Sea and found myself living in Tallinn, Estonia in 2010. Surfing would not come into the picture for four more years. During this time I found myself without anywhere to live, no job, no money, and no legal status (as you do), but this did not deter me from my ‘dream’
