THERE can no longer be any doubt that all-season tyres are winning over drivers like never before. Evidence comes with the news that they are outselling the conventional (summer) designs that dominate our market, in parts of Germany with similar weather to the UK.

While they will always be a compromise compared withdownsides of soft handling and less sharp steering aren’t as pronounced on the SUVs that now dominate car sales.
