Hi John,

During a recent camping trip, I noticed a few people were using chain hooks rather than D-shackles when connecting their safety chains to the tow bar.

We've got D-shackles, as recommended during a towing course we took when we got our first van, but given how much quicker (or at least less fiddly) the hooks are and how many we see on the road, do you have a stance on how good or safe they are to use?
