Aged 17, after your Birmingham debut in 2013, you were in FourFourTwo’s ‘Top 10 Football League stars of tomorrow’. Did it feel as if you had the world at your feet?

Back then, I was so fearless. I was playing for England youth and felt way ahead of the other boys, even top players from Chelsea and Manchester City, because I was playing in the Championship. Men’s football forces you to mature much earlier, which is good. I’ll watch my Birmingham highlights sometimes to remember how it started. It was a good time. I could have gone wherever I wanted.

Joining Leicester during their 2015-16 title-winning season wasn’t a bad choice…
