About this audiobook
Former High School guidance counselor, Brenna Flynn, returns home to Bayview City after the sudden death of her husband. Unable to find work in her field, she signs up with a temp agency to find employment. Sent on an interview for a cooking reality show, she aces it and gets the job of production assistant. On her second day at work, Brenna discovers a body in the studio. She soon learns she's the police's primary suspect. Determined to clear her name, she uses some skills she's honed as a high school counselor to learn more about the victim. Drawing people out comes naturally to Brenna, and she becomes a confidante to cast and crew on the show. The stakes are raised with threatening notes, poisonings, and blackmail. Can Brenna uncover who the killer is before someone else dies?

What our readers think
Readers find this title enjoyable and suspenseful, with many twists and turns. The storyline is liked and the development of events is appreciated. However, some readers find the pace slow and the inclusion of unnecessary details distracting. The narrator's monotone voice is also mentioned as a drawback. Overall, it is a good book with a crazy first week for the protagonist and a loveable dog. Some readers find the repeated dialogue boring and repetitive, but it does not ruin the overall experience.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/53.5 I found her ability to handle everything as an assistant ater being a guidance counselor not really ringing true for me. Different skill set. But overall, the book was an easy read and enjoyable. Worth a try if you're looking for something light.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Story is okay, but it's repetitious. The protagonist thinks something, says it to someone in exactly the same way and often, the next person says it, too. The narrator is pretty flat, also. The whole production is not the worst I've encountered, but nowhere near the best either.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book is suspenseful with many twists and turns. I love the dog
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Constantly repeated unnecessary dialogue and became boring pretty quickly.Gave up listening after it was repeated 3 times in less than a minute that "the studio could only seat 50 people, but they could add 25 seats for today". Not exactly riveting.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked the storyline and how things was developing. Crazy first week for Brenna in her new job that's for sure. It was a good book.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It's okay but the pace is slow and has too many unnecessary details. The narrator's monotone voice didn't help.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Enjoyed it very much. Am looking forward to more from this author.
