About this audiobook

There are three rules Brooke Sullivan must follow as a new nurse practitioner at a men’s maximum-security prison: 1) Treat all prisoners with respect. 2) Never reveal any personal information. 3) Never EVER become too friendly with the inmates. But none of the staff at the prison knows Brooke has already broken the rules. Nobody knows about her intimate connection to Shane Nelson, one of the penitentiary’s most notorious and dangerous inmates. And they certainly don’t know that Shane was Brooke’s high school sweetheart—the star quarterback who is now spending the rest of his life in prison for a series of grisly murders. Or that Brooke's testimony was what put him there. But Shane knows. And he will never forget.

Not my favorite Freida novel, but it wasn’t horrible. I love her books where she switches POVs, and that didn’t happen until the epilogue. There WAS one scene in the book that had me frightened enough to turn the lights on in the house ? but other than that, it wasn’t as exciting as I was hoping. Even the final climax had me feeling completely underwhelmed… BUT, it was a quick read, I definitely didn’t guess who the real antagonist was until the end, and it wasn’t awful. 3/5 stars, for sure. I’ll absolutely keep reading the rest of Freida’s novels because I know how good they can be!

Extremely slow with no plot twists for most of the book and then you are hit with several right at the end.

Great book, really enjoyed it. Some of the writing seems a little juvenile but overall it's good

I'm reading a second book from this author. Half way though - question: do all her books feature a heroine who is a dumb a$$ nurse practitioner? Lol. Wow! So insulting for women.

I'm now on chapter 48. She is still an idiot. Someone please slap her!!!! How many times can a person make the same mistake?

Done. Very very stupid book. Sorry, but a total waste of time.

This one really kept me guessing. I thought it was too predictable and I had it all figured out and then I’d realize I had it all wrong. I do wonder if im the only one who thought it was odd the kid rang the doorbell at his own home though. If they knew he’d be getting off the bus wouldn’t the door be unlocked for him? Has nothing to do with the plot but I was just confused by that.

This is the second book I have read, "one by one" was the first . It left me guessing. I like trying to figure out the villain. The only thing I didn't like, is the dialogue in her thoughts. Some of it was monotonous.

Interesting approach. I found myself upset with Brook for not assessing all the facts about someone (Tim or Shane or Margie) prior to introducing them to her son.

It was OK. The beginning was interesting, and then it went all over the place in the middle and towards the end.

Was off to a great start. Then got a little ridiculous in the middle. Too much back and forth. Brooke didn’t know what she believed. This could’ve been a little more believable, if not for that. Then loved the ending! Still a big fan of FM though!
