What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a truly great Christian classic, inspiring and encouraging. The book is a gripping and deeply satisfying account of a Dutch Christian woman's journey under Hitler's Nazi regime. It illustrates themes of the nearness and providence of God, forgiveness through Jesus, and the power of love and trust in God. The story leaves a lifelong impression and reminds readers of the love of God even in the darkest of times. Overall, it is an amazing, awe-inspiring, and must-read book that changes perspectives and encourages deep love and faith.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a beautiful, heart breaking story of faith and courage ...
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The beauty of forgiveness and love from one of the darkest times of history amplifies the glory of God. He can take horrific situations and turn them into our good. While the outer body is wasting away, He can renew our spirits. A heart wrenching story of redemption. I love Corrie ten Boom’s simplicity and authenticity of story telling; it’s refreshing.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent book!! No matter our struggles, God will never leave our side!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was honest and always pointed to the One who deserves all the glory and honour for carrying us through this life! Be it mountains, or horrible valleys, He is faithful to sustain us and give us His hope. Amen.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Powerful testimony of trusting God in all circumstances and giving thanks in those circumstances. The most powerful part of the book for me was when Bessie insisted they thank God for the fleas and lice in their beds. Reluctantly, Corrie agreed and chapters later you find that the women were able to share the gospel of Christ without the guards interfering because the guards wouldn’t come into the room for fear they would get fleas or lice. What are the fleas and lice in my life that I’m not giving thanks to God for?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5good book, good reader, good writer, good words, good strory
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was interesting hearing about the horrors that were inflicted upon those that were not Jewish during World War II. Because I have conflicting feelings about why such a wonderful God can give us so many rewards would also allow these kinds of horrors to happen. And there was quite a bit of religion and faith and prayers to this wonderful God. It is amazing how the will to live can overpower the evils that surrounded these people.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5She was a brave and noble woman, and risked a ton and sacrificed more than you can imagine and had so much pain physically and mentally and did what most of us Can’t do.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5How glorious is God! What an outstanding testimony. Incredible book!

I am convicted to love deeply and encouraged know that it is not from my own strength but from Christ working in me.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book will always leave a presence in my heart
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Like many my age (mid 50s) I first encountered Corrie Ten Boom’s story in the film adaptation starring Jeanette Clift George. I watched the film again recently and experienced it differently than I did then. At the time I first saw it in the mid 70s, it had a strong impact on me. Seeing the film recently, so many years later, with much more knowledge of the broader context of the war and occupation, and at a time when many television series have production values exceeding the blockbusters of that earlier time, the film seemed almost quaint.
The book however was gripping and deeply satisfying. It is an honest and often gripping account that pulls the reader in. Many of the elements missing from the film that are included in this book prove to be very important, illustrating the moral and spiritual struggle Corrie faces amidst the sea of hatred and cruelty she swims in. For instance, in one scene, a woman with a gangrenous leg pulls off her wet bandage and throws it onto Corrie’s head. This incident occurs in the wake of great loss pushing Corrie to the boundary of credulity regarding her faith.
This book is well worth your time. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It gave me a deeper view of God. I Thankyou. I am going to reread it
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What an amazing book! What faith these people had. Thankful for the words to encourage me to be bold in faith and in everything to give thanks!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A riveting account of a Dutch Christian woman’s nearly impossible life’s journey under Hitler’s Nazi regime. Themes of the nearness and providence of God, the boldness He gives his children and forgiveness through Jesus, whose love sustains and strengthens us at every turn.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is one of the best books ever written. It is amazing what Corrie overcomes in her feelings using the power of forgiveness and Faith. I can't imagine going through a concentration camp, let alone doing it with the grace of these two sisters. I can't imagine being faced with a decision of helping people who are being hunted, and by helping them you too would become hunted. It is a well written book. I felt I knew the homes and the people like my own family. Very well done!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a Light in this world of darkness! Thank you, Corrie ten Boom, for sharing God’s love... regardless!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5My favorite book of all time! Read it many times but really enjoyed listening to it this round.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book I'm so glad I finally read it. There are amazing nuggets of wisdom that just made everything worth it. Those nuggets continually come back to me, reminding my that hard things can happen and there is both a purpose and extra strength that comes. Corrie helps us remember she is human, not a saint but we all can aim for better than where we are
