ALL ROADS HOME
On his way home to San Diego, P.I. Patrick Kincaid takes a detour through San Francisco to check on the wellbeing of a family friend who's mysteriously been unreachable. What he doesn't expect is to be shot at before he can find out why attorney Elle Santana won't ask the police for help in finding a missing girl. Soon, he's on the run from both good guys and bad as he and Elle race to find the witness and take down a sweatshop run by a corrupt businessman with a penchant for violence.
LEAD TO DEAD ENDS
Newly sworn FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid can't remember the last time she spent the holidays with her whole family, but getting home by December 25th is proving to be a bit of a problem. A blizzard shut down the airports and she and her boyfriend Sean Rogan are stuck in a Denver hotel … with a dead body. And if that wasn't all, back in San Diego Colonel Kincaid ends up in the hospital, where an even greater danger awaits … a man with a vendetta who will kill anyone who gets in his way. This Christmas, the Kincaid family needs nothing less than a miracle to survive. And time is running out.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I didn't enjoy this book as much as the others in the Lucy Kincaid series. I didn't realize it was two short stories with an ending that tied them together. I avoid anthologies. I don't enjoy short stories as much. There isn't the depth of character development for the characters who are not part of the series. Also, I find the resolution to the story is often rushed (though not in this case). This feels like it was written in order to explain why some of the regular cast of characters were changing things in their lives, more than for the mysteries. Still a worth reading - just not one of my favourites from the series, in my opinion.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5As much as I usually like Allison Brennan's books, I didn't enjoy this one as much. The book is divided into three separate novellas, rather than a cohesive story. Unfortunately, the story lines are very similar to previous books.
Patrick Kincaid, former police officer now a private investigator has been asked by his mom to check in on an old family friend. Elle is the little sister of Patrick's former high school sweetheart and daughter of Patrick's mom's best friend. She is a pro bono attorney who is looking for a 15 year old runaway that she took into her care as well as trying to take down a wealthy businessman who also happens to be a drug dealer. She has no plan for doing either of these tasks and refuses to take advice from Patrick, the professional. Hello! get the idea?
The character of Elle and the things she did were worse than irresponsible, they were down right unbelievable. After awhile the story just went flat. Not Allison Brennan's usual great story. Sorry Allison...2 stars. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5In Brennan’s mystery thriller, P.I. Patrick Kincaid goes to check on a family friend who has been unreachable. En route, he is shot at and before he can question attorney Ell Santana as to why she won’t assist in finding a missing girl, both are on the run to find a witness who’s testimony can help bring down a corrupt businessman.Newly sworn FBI agent Lucy Kincaid and her boyfriend Sean Rugan find themselves stranded in a blizzard with a dead body. In the meantime, Colonel Kincaid ends up in the hospital where a man with a vendetta is moving in. This Christmas, the Kincaid family will fight for a miracle to save them all.Fast, fierce and hard to put down.
