About this audiobook

ONE OF THE BEST FEEL-GOOD BOOKS OF 2021 BY THE WASHINGTON POST

“I read Eight Perfect Hours in one sitting, in four perfect hours, because I couldn’t bear to put it down without knowing the ending.” —Jodi Picoult, #1 New York Times bestselling author

In this romantic and heartwarming novel, two strangers meet in chance circumstances during a blizzard and spend one perfect evening together, thinking they’ll never see each other again. But fate seems to have different plans. From the acclaimed author of the “swoon-worthy…rom-com” (The Washington Post) Dear Emmie Blue.

On a snowy evening in March, thirty-something Noelle Butterby is on her way back from an event at her old college when disaster strikes. With a blizzard closing off roads, she finds herself stranded, alone in her car, without food, drink, or a working charger for her phone.

All seems lost until Sam Attwood, a handsome American stranger also trapped in a nearby car, knocks on her window and offers assistance. What follows is eight perfect hours together, until morning arrives and the roads finally clear. The two strangers part, positive they’ll never see each other again but fate, it seems, has a different plan. As the two keep serendipitously bumping into one another, they begin to realize that perhaps there truly is no such thing as coincidence.

With plenty of charming twists and turns and Lia Louis’s “bold, standout voice” (Gillian McAllister, author of The Good Sister), Eight Perfect Hours is a gorgeously crafted novel that will make you believe in the power of fate.

What our readers think

Readers find this title to be a sweet and satisfying love story with charming narration and hilarious phrasing. It evokes a sense of destiny and romance, making readers want to revisit the characters even after finishing the book. The book is compared to the movie Serendipity and is described as a cozy read with a slow pace that helps readers empathize with the main character. The chemistry between the two protagonists is electric, and their accidental meetings are filled with snappy banter and funny moments. Although the book touches on darker issues like depression and anxiety, they are handled sensitively. oh my gosh!!! This was supposed to be my palette cleanser book from my recent foray into all things fantasy novels and dragons, but WOW. I devoured this delight in one day and I now have the worst book hangover.

THIS BOOK. Read it. All the way through. Until the end. Thank me later.

If you ever saw the movie Serendipity, then this is your jam! Listening to this during the holidays was the perfect cinnamon bun added to a cup of Java. It will get you out of any funk you might be in in and make you want to go put on holiday tunes and hug someone!

This story wasn’t what I was fully expecting, but I’m not mad… actually pleased. Yes the strangers spend hours together alone in a snow storm but there is so much more story after that. Twists and turns. Heart tearing moments. Loss. Anxiety. Failed relationships. Postpartum Depression. So much storyline.

Delicious romantic comedy perfect for lovers of kismet stories - Sleepless in Seattle, Serendipity and the like. The chemistry of Sam and Noelle works from the get-go, despite both still messily entangled in long-term relationships. The numerous accidental meetings are written with the right amount of electric energy, but both are virtuous souls who spend the time getting to know each other, not crossing into the physical upfront. The circumstances underpinning why they seem destined to meet become a bit too zany at the end but overall it’s a sweet story with snappy banter and many funny moments. Although there are darker issues covered in the book (TW: depression, anxiety, suicide), they are handled sensitively and overall, this is a good heartwarmer of a book for the holidays. A great follow-up to the wonderful Dear Emmie Blue; Lia Louis is a terrific romance writer.

Nice, but predictable love story. Little too long for the plot. Great narrator!

This was a very cute book! I will say that at times I was anxious just by association. Haha, Noelle is full of anxiety and that came out clearly in the character. I'm glad things came full circle in the end.
