About this audiobook

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Nightingale and The Great Alone comes an incandescent story about the resilience of the human spirit, the triumph of hope, and the meaning of home.

In the rugged Pacific Northwest lies the Olympic National Forest—nearly a million acres of impenetrable darkness and impossible beauty. From deep within this old growth forest, a six-year-old girl appears. Speechless and alone, she offers no clue as to her identity, no hint of her past.

Having retreated to her western Washington hometown after a scandal left her career in ruins, child psychiatrist Dr. Julia Cates is determined to free the extraordinary little girl she calls Alice from a prison of unimaginable fear and isolation. To reach her, Julia must discover the truth about Alice’s past—although doing so requires help from Julia’s estranged sister, a local police officer. The shocking facts of Alice’s life test the limits of Julia’s faith and strength, even as she struggles to make a home for Alice—and for herself.

“One of [Kristin Hannah’s] most compelling and riveting novels.”—Booklist

I did not like the narrator, and that ruined the book for me.

I think I would have enjoyed this book more had it not been for the narration on the audiobook. The voices of the narrator made the characters sound as though they were uneducated,
illiterate fools. Characters did not come across as likable in any way. Most of them were sad sacks, who all felt sorry for themselves. The only reason I continued to listen is because it was an interesting storyline. Not my favorite novel by Kristin Hannah. I would recommend reading the e-book and avoid listening to this annoying narrator.

Magic Hour was an auditory page-turner! Hannah weaves mystery and intrigue into the fabric of a wonderful tale with love--of place, of family, plus romantic allure--at its core. Wonderful character development, and the gorgeous, dramatic setting was also a character of sorts, influencing moods as well as plot as the seasons changed. I enjoyed this book immensely.

A captivating story about the journey to discovering what really matters, the people who make us who we are and give us courage to become who we are meant to be. A small town is forever changed when a lost lonely girl shows up one day and reminds them of all the ways their lives are interwoven with a shared past and a new future.

This is a good storyline of a wolf child. It shows how love and patience can help frightened children. It is a great book that keeps you wanting more and sad when it is finished

The story was great, the narrator not so great. Some of the adult voices she used sounded as though she was mimicking special needs individuals.
