About this audiobook
Following on the heels of Robert Brockway's comedic horror novel The Unnoticeables, The Empty Ones reveals the next chapter in the lives of a few misfits attempting to fight back against the mysterious Unnoticeables.
The Empty Ones follows Carey and Randall to London where they go to rescue Gus and fight more of these mysterious angel-like creatures, and stumble on a powerful and unexpected ally. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn, who was very nearly beat when last we saw her, continues her fight into the desert of Mexico and the Southwest US, seeking the mysterious gear cult. Once there, she discovers what the gear cult is really up to: trying to "pin" the angels to Earth, focus their attention here, and get as much of humanity as possible "solved"—which, in their minds, is akin to being saved—and in the process discovers something incredible about herself.
With a snarled lip, The Empty Ones incorporates everything that made The Unnoticeables incredible, but like any good punk band, when you don't think they can get any louder, they somehow turn it up a notch. It's terrifying and hilarious, visceral and insane, chaotic and beautiful.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5the first book was decent, this one was better by far. Can't wait to listen to the next one!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Book 2 did not disappoint...equally as exciting and captivating as book 1. The author keeps you present in the story with well developed characters and plot thrillers. The world he has created, with monsters and villains, keeps the pages turning. Time line twists added another level of expectations, as you jump from past to present, you can't wait to hear what happened at the segway. This book is full of everything the horror fan would love. The sarcastic dark humor seals the deal for me. Looking forward to book 3, horror fans go for it, everyone else beware.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5While there are times when I get a little lost with the various bugaboos in this series, I can't help but keep going simply for the full-on politically incorrect laugh out loud narration by the various protagonists.
And overall, it just feels so wildly different from most of the horror that I read, that it's a total blast of fresh air in a genre that can often feel like it's on life support.
On to the next book! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The horrifying imagery in the Vicious Circuit trilogy by Robert Brockway is second-to-none. He has a way with surrealist gonzo skull-fuckery that I love without reservation.
It helps that these books are hilarious and populated with lovable assholes. I also always enjoy stories about hidden worlds that exist under the surface of the real world. Case in point – the main villain in the books so far is a hollowed-out monstrous version of Mario Lopez who no longer understands humanity.
I also loved the first book when I read it a few years go, and this volume keeps up the stream of obscenity and gruesomeness to excellent effect.
