- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5For once, it is not about political heavy or the chosen one savior or overthrowing the overlord/the kings or queens kind of fantasy, but a fantastic blend of historical fantasy and horror.
On that itself is already perfect because that's what I'm currently looking for in fantasy genre. It could be passed on as an nightmarish urban legend even, if the author would like to broad the world building into a full on standalone/duo or trilogy.
The descriptive is gory, grim, creepy, unforgivingly gruesome, and all of these ambience were incredibly narrated by Philip Stevens, who delivers variety of tones and voices, making the book/audiobook even more intense. To be very honest, I don't mind if this mouth of hell evolved into more horror swallowing villages and kingdoms nearby kind of story. It is refreshing blend of genres in fantasy and I would love to read more of it.
