About this audiobook

For bestselling horror novelist Wilson Paventeau, the scariest novel of his career is one he didn't write. It bears his name on the dust jacket and contains his bio near the end, but this enigmatic tome is not part of his oeuvre. And the most frightening thing about it may not be the tale between the covers, but the reason for its mysterious appearance in Paventeau's life.

What our readers think

Readers find this title a little hard to get into, but still enjoyable. The book is mysterious and intriguing, with a beautiful yet mildly creepy atmosphere. It is not a typical horror story, but still recommended. The novella is short and engaging, with the suspense and ending well-balanced. Some readers found it scary, while others felt it was not that scary. The writing is great and the plot is well-built, although the ultimate twist is seen as old and tired. Overall, it is a good book with a flowing plot and well-developed characters.

Mysterious and intriguing enough to keep you TikTok and along but not so gripping that I’m going to write a letter home

The overall concept was well presented but the ultimate twist is an oldie thats beaten down, worn out and tired. I didn't pay attention to actual time period of plot but conclusion of reveal to some characters was extremely unbelievable and laughable in todays society. If this had been a full sized Novel I would have rated 2 Stars max. But because it is a novella so to say I have given a few more allowances for page number constraints than I normally would.

Short and good. The suspense was just right and the ending was full of hope.

I found this book a little hard to get into. I enjoyed the end and the payoff but didn't find it in the last bit creepy. It's about a writer, and I think I get a bit tired of writers always writing about writers as if they're the only people in the world. Anyway, it was ok

From the start, I really thought that this was going to end up something different than it did. It was still a beautiful yet mildly creepy and makes you ask yourself:
Are honest people good? Not your typical Ronald Malfi horror story. I would still recommend it...just not to someone who is looking for a horror story.
