He was commissioned as a Chaplain in the US Navy. In 1991, he served as Senior Chaplain of a 500-bed combat zone hospital stationed in the desert of Saudi Arabia. He received various medals from the Defense Department including the Navy Commendation Medal for exemplary service and ministry to his hospital and to the Kuwait people in exile. Returning to civilian ministry, he continued his study of Islam and the culture of the Middle East. He has held State, Regional and National offices in the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He received the Chapel of Four Chaplains Bronze Medallion Award from the Chapel of Four Chaplains and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from his seminary. He teaches and lectures in various institutions and churches on the religion of Islam as well as teaching courses on Christianity.view less
