    Chapter 1 – The friends

    Cassandra sat waiting for the internet connection to log onto her laptop to search for a train ticket home, trying desperately to see the keys through her tears. What a week this had been, first her man left her in a drunkard argument two days ago and now this.

    Cassandra remembered the argument with Tom and had refused to speak to him until he had apologised - which deep down she knew he would not.

    Cassandra missed him and she would have tried to sort things out with him if her sister had not just called and told her that their mother was in hospital.

    Now she just wanted to go home.

    He could wait.

    Cassandra bought her ticket and made her way to the train station: she found her train, a seat and closed her eyes to shut the day out and drift off to her music for couple of hour’s peace.

    Craig ran his hand up Kate’s slender thigh; she laughed brushing it away, playful and forthcoming.
