Mental Card Mysteries - Thirty-Five Weird And Psychic Effects - Clettis V. Musson
MUSSON
MUSSON'S MENTAL CARD MYSTERY
Effect: Three cards are placed upon the table face up. After instructing a spectator to mentally think of any one of the cards during his absence, the performer leaves the room. The card is then mentally selected and performer notified. After due concentration, and while still in the other room, he names the MENTALLY THOUGHT OF CARD!
Method: Arrange face-up on the table the specified three cards in the following order: Ace of Hearts, 4 of Clubs, and the 5 of Clubs. Invite a spectator to come forward. Say to him, Here are three cards, the Ace of Hearts, the 4 of Clubs and the 5 of Clubs. When I leave the room I want you to mentally select any one of those three cards. And remember, do not let me force any one of the cards on you. When ready let me know
.
You now leave the room. The average intelligent person chooses the 5 of Clubs. It is true that the Ace of Hearts is the most conspicuous but you have warned the party not to let you force any one of the cards on him. Be sure and stress that point.
Experience with this master mental mystery will prove to you how nearly infallible the trick really is.
If you wish to use 5 cards in presenting a similiar effect, use the following cards in the order given here: King of hearts, 7 of Clubs, Ace of Diamonds, 4 of Hearts and 9 of Diamonds.
Use patter similiar to the following: Here are 5 cards and I am going to ask you to mentally select one of them. Do not let me force any one of the cards on you. For instance, you may think the Ace of Diamonds is placed here because of it being a high card; or perhaps you may think the 7 of clubs was purposely placed here to make it conspicuous as it is the only black card in the group. Remember this, you can change your mind as often as you like until after I have placed a card face down on the palm of your hand. No matter how often you change your mind that will be the mentally selected card
.
During this patter it is necessary to push the King of Hearts slightly forward two or three times to eliminate the possibiblity of it being the chosen card.
Now pick the cards up, shuffle them so the spectator will not know which card you remove. Remove the 4 of Hearts and place it face down on the palm of his hand, then ask him what card he selected. When he names the card - which will invariably be the 4 of Hearts - tell him to turn the card over, then watch the expression on his face.
This card effect when worked on intelligent people is almost infallible.
THE SPIRIT GUIDE
Seven playing cards are removed from a shuffled deck and placed face downward on the table. The performer writes the name of a card on a piece of paper, seals it in a small envelope, and places it in his pocket. He now requests someone
