Liar, Liar, White House on Fire
Introduction
To date of this publication’s written completion, the 45th president of the United States of America has told upwards of 6000 lies since his swearing into the presidential office. These lies were tweets or remarks. When a person lies too regularly, you cannot trust anything that they say or anyone who supports them. People lie. For some professions lying is a key aspect of fulfilling their job requirements. Politicians, especially, lie to gain support or hide an incendiary act. However, a politician cannot lie all the time. If they had a reputation for lying all the time, then no one morally sound would support them. This is why it is especially terrible that the current leader of the United States of America is on record as having told so many lies. When you cannot trust the leader of your country to be honest that opens the gateway for corruption and chaos, two things rampantly in action now. Additionally, when the next crisis comes along 45 will not be a reliable source of information since he lies consistently. From the day that number 45 arrived on to the political scene, there has been a ton of lies. Looking through a list of some of these lies from the first year of his administration will show the dire reflection we must all have, whether to passively agree with each lie told, or call out each lie then seek the facts. To prove this, let us look at the first year of this governments' rule to see the plethora of lies that they have publicly told.
Disclaimer:
This book does not cover every lie told within number 45’s first year as president. There are more that he told that I did not record. Be aware that the scope is greater than what I listed and recorded.
Day 1: 20 January 2017
Trump tweeted, We will bring back our jobs. We will bring back our borders. We will bring back our wealth - and we will bring back our dreams!
Truth
CNNMoney’s examinations of hundreds of federal filings reveal that number 45 has not stopped jobs from moving to foreign countries. In the first 100 days of his administration, the U.S. Department of Labor government program that deals with trade adjustment assistance for workers has had more than 270 separate companies apply for benefits for more than 10,000 employees whose jobs went overseas.
The jobs are still going and so are the dreams.
Day 2: 21 January 2017
Trump says, I wasn't a fan of Iraq. I didn't want to go into Iraq.
Truth
On a September 11, 2002 interview with Howard Stern, Stern asked Number 45 if he was for invading Iraq. Number 45 responded, Yeah, I guess so; I wish the first time it was done correctly.
Trump says, A reporter for Time magazine — and I have been on their cover 14 or 15 times. I think we have the all-time record in the history of Time magazine.
Truth
Richard Nixon has been on TIME’s cover 55 times so far. Hillary Clinton has been the woman with the most covers for the magazine with 19 total as of October 2013.
Trump said at the CIA on January 21, 2017, I have a running war with the media,
he said. They are among the most dishonest human beings on Earth. Moreover, they rather made it sound like I had a feud with the intelligence community. And I just want to let you know, the reason you're the No. 1 stop is exactly the opposite.
Truth
On January 11, 2017, number 45 tweeted Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to ‘leak’ into the public. One last shot at me. Are we living in Nazi Germany?
Number 45 was asked about the tweet at a press conference later that day, he answered, I think it was disgraceful — disgraceful that the intelligence agencies allowed any information that turned out to be so false and fake out, I think it’s a disgrace, and I say that — and I say that, and that’s something that Nazi Germany would have done and did do.
Number 45 then tweeted Totally made up facts by sleazebag political operatives, both Democrats and Republicans - FAKE NEWS! Russia says nothing exists. Probably released by ‘Intelligence’ even knowing there is no proof, and never will be.
Day 3: 22 January 2017
Trump tweeted, Wow, television ratings just out: 31 million people watched the Inauguration, 11 million more than the very good ratings from 4 years ago!
Truth
30.6 million television viewers watched the inauguration, 37.8 million watched for President Obama's first swearing-in ceremony in 2009.
Day 4: 23 January 2017
Trump said, Between 3 million and 5 million illegal votes caused me to lose the popular vote.
Truth
Voting officials and fact checkers have reported that there is virtually no evidence of people voting illegally.
Day 5: 24 January 2017
Trump tweeted, Big day planned on NATIONAL SECURITY tomorrow. Among many other things, we will build the wall!
Truth
There are upkeep projects to improve and replace fencing, but no border wall prototypes has been ordered by Number 45’s administration. He signed a $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill on March 23, 2017 which included $1.6 billion for projects at the border, but that can’t be used toward the border wall.
Day 6: 25 January 2017
Trump said, Now, the audience was the biggest ever. But this crowd was massive. Look how far back it goes. This crowd was massive.
Truth
A combination of photos taken at the National Mall for U.S. President Number 45 at 12:01pm January 20, 2017 (left) and President Barack Obama between 12:07pm and 12:26pm on January 20, 2009 (right).
Trump tweeted, Take a look at the Pew reports (which show voter fraud.)
Truth
Election and law enforcement officials across the country, who examined reports of voter fraud state by state, have said they found no credible evidence of supposed widespread fraud.
Trump said, You had millions of people that now aren't insured anymore.
Truth
In 2017, premiums for the base plan went up by 22 percent on average across the states that use the federal marketplace or have their own exchanges, according to the Department of Health and Human Services. Some places had higher increases (116 percent in Arizona, the only state with a triple-digit increase) and some lower (9 percent in Wyoming) … About 84 percent of enrollees qualify for tax credits that help blunt the costs in 2017, meaning the government picks up the tab for any increase… About 20 million have gained insurance under the act. Analysis from the Commonwealth Fund concluded that the Affordable Care Act was responsible for a majority of the decline in the uninsured rate… The Affordable Care Act mandated that businesses with more than 50 employees be required to offer health insurance to employees who work 30 hours or more per week, or pay a penalty. There are some anecdotes of employers reducing hours but studies have been unable to find much evidence of a widespread shift to part-time employment… The healthcare law raised the eligibility cutoff to adults under 65 who made less than 138 percent of the poverty line, making them eligible for Medicaid… Health costs for employer-sponsored plans have risen in the years before the Affordable Care Act. The Kaiser Family Foundation estimates that premiums increased by 20 percent from 2011 to 2016, compared to 31 percent from 2006 to 2011 and 63 percent from 2001 to 2006.
Trump said, So, look, when President Obama was there two weeks ago making a speech, very nice speech. Two people were shot and killed during his speech. You can't have that.
Truth
There were no gun related murders that day.
Day 7: 26 January 2017
Trump said, Here in Philadelphia, murder has been steady — I mean — just terribly increasing.
Truth
In 2016, 277 people were killed in the city. That number decreased from 2015, when 280 people were killed; and increased from 2014, when 248 people were killed. In 2007, homicides were 391 and 500 in 1990.
Trump said, I cut off hundreds of millions of dollars off one particular plane, hundreds of millions of dollars in a short period of time. It was not like I spent, like, weeks, hours, less than hours, and many, many hundreds of millions of dollars. And the plane's going to be better.
Truth
Number 45 is taking credit for years of work by the Pentagon and Lockheed. He is taking credit for work that’s already been done on the program by Air Force Lt. Gen. Christopher Bogdan and by Lockheed Martin,
says Byron Callan.
Trump said, We've taken in tens of thousands of people. We know nothing about them. They can say they vet them. They didn't vet them. They have no papers. How can you vet somebody when you don't know anything about them and you have no papers? How do you vet them? You can't.
Truth
The steps to become a refugee are as follows:
1. Registration with the United Nations.
2. Interview with the United Nations.
3. Refugee status granted by the United Nations.
4. Referral for resettlement in the United States. The United Nations decides if the person fits the definition of a refugee and whether to refer the person to the United States or to another country for resettlement.
5. Interview with State Department contractors.
6. First background check.
7. Higher-level background check for some.
8. Another background check. The refugee’s name is run through law enforcement and intelligence databases for terrorist or criminal history. A third background check was introduced in 2008 for Iraqis but has been expanded to all refugees ages 14 to 65.
9. First fingerprint screening; photo taken.
10. Second fingerprint screening.
11. Third fingerprint screening. The refugee’s fingerprints are screened against F.B.I. and Homeland Security databases, which contain watch list information and past immigration encounters, including if the refugee previously applied for a visa at a United States embassy. Fingerprints are checked against those collected by the Defense Department during operations in Iraq.
12. Case reviewed at United States immigration headquarters.
13. Some cases referred for additional review. Syrian applicants must undergo two additional steps. A United States Citizenship and Immigration Services refugee specialist reviews each case. Cases with national security indicators
are given to the Homeland Security Department’s fraud detection unit.
14. Extensive, in-person interview with Homeland Security officer.
15. Homeland Security approval is required.
16. Screening for contagious diseases.
17. Cultural orientation class.
18. Matched with an American resettlement agency.
19. Multi-agency security check before leaving for the United States.
20. Final security check at an American airport.
These steps can take several years.
Day 8: 27 January 2017
Trump tweeted, Look forward to seeing final results of VoteStand. Gregg Phillips and crew say at least 3,000,000 votes were illegal. We must do better!
Truth
After all the allegations of flagrant voter fraud and accusations that millions had voted illegally, the people who supervised the general election have been adding up how many credible reports of fraud they actually received. They agree that it is negligible number. In addition, number 45’s lawyers in December opposed the recount efforts of Green Party candidate Jill Stein on the grounds that there was no voter fraud.
All available evidence suggests that the 2016 general election was not tainted by fraud or mistake, Number 45’s lawyers filed an official protest with Michigan’s Board of State Canvassers on December 1, 2016.
Day 9: 28 January 2017
Trump tweeted, Thr coverage about me in the @nytimes and the @washingtonpost gas been so false and angry that the times actually apologized to its dwindling subscribers and readers. They got me wrong right from the beginning and still have not changed course, and never will. DISHONEST
Truth
No report or retraction was made.
Day 10: 29 January 2017
Trump said, The Cuban-Americans, I got 84 percent of that vote.
Truth
Overall, 35% of Latino voters in Florida supported Number 45, but that share was down from 2012, when Mitt Romney won 39%. There is no exit poll data that shows how Cubans in Florida voted in 2008 or 2012 but the National Survey of Latinos has found that Cuban registered voters have been moving toward the Democratic Party for many years.
Trump claimed that it was 'impossible' for Syrian Christians to enter U.S.
Truth
Christians make up a very small percentage of Syrians admitted under the refugee program, but they have been able to enter the United States. There is no evidence that this is an outcome of a prejudicial process. Refugee admissions favor Christians in other countries.
In general, the Christian population in Syria is low.
Day 11: 30 January 2017
Trump tweeted, Only 109 people out of 325,000 were detained and held for questioning. Big problems at airports were caused by Delta computer outage.
Truth
According to The New York Times fact checkers, at least 746 people were detained and processed, and the Delta outage happened two days later.
Trump tweeted, If the ban were announced with a one week notice, the
bad would rush into our country during that week. A lot of bad
dudes out there!
Truth
The process to enter the USA through asylum takes several months to complete as has been mentioned earlier. Additionally, for all countries that need a visa to enter the USA, the process is intensive and comprehensive. All take a significant amount of time to complete.
Day 12: 31 January 2017
Trump tweeted, When will the Democrats give us our Attorney General and rest of Cabinet! They should be ashamed of themselves! No wonder D.C. doesn't work!
Truth
Under normal circumstances, it would take about two months for the White House’s selection to be crosschecked by the FBI and Senate Judiciary Committee. This is followed by a final confirmation vote by the full Senate. Only a simple majority vote is required to fulfill the Senate’s procedural hurdles. The GOP has the majority of seats in the House.
Day 13: 1 February 2017
Trump tweeted, Everybody is arguing whether or not it is a BAN. Call it what you want, it is about keeping bad people (with bad intentions) out of country!
Truth
A ban prohibits by legal means. The countries currently included in the travel restriction list are Somalia, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Iran, North Korea, Chad and Venezuela, Sudan and Iraq. Number 45’s travel ban could not have prevented any terrorism-related deaths in the United States over the past 20 years as evidenced by the following list:
•August 1997- Two men with Jordanian passports are arrested in New York before they could bomb public transit in the city. Jordan is not on the list.
•December 1999- A man from Algeria is arrested after entering the United States in Washington. His car is loaded with explosives; he planned to attack Los Angeles International Airport. He was detained at the border. Algeria is not on the list.

•July 2002- A shooter from Egypt opens fire at an El Al counter at LAX. Egypt is not on the list.
•March 2006- An Iran-born U.S. citizen drives an SUV into people at the University of North Carolina, injuring nine. He came to the country at age two before being naturalized. It is not clear whether his parents had family in the country at the time.
•July 2006- A man opens fire at a Jewish organization in Seattle. He was a citizen, born in the United States.
•June 2009- A man opens fire at a military recruiting center in Little Rock. He was a citizen, born in the United States.
•November 2009- The shooting at Fort Hood, Texas. He was a citizen, born in the United States.

•May 2011- Two Iraqi nationals are arrested in Bowling Green, Kentucky, for aiding terrorist attacks outside the United States. The initial version of the ban included Iraq.
•April 2013- Two bombs are detonated at the Boston Marathon. The Tsarnaev brothers were born in the Soviet Union and Kyrgyzstan. One was a naturalized citizen, the other a green-card holder.
•April to June 2014- A man in Washington murders several people in separate incidents. He was a citizen, born in the United States.

•November 2016- A student at Ohio State University
