I was born and raised in Kentucky. I reside in Greenup County, Kentucky with my family. My debut novel, An Unexpected Love, released August 2015. I’m a single momma to my eight-year-old daughter, Jessalyn Kristine. I also take care and homeschool my autistic cousin, Aiden Sean, he’s nine years old. I love photography and seeing what I can capture through the lens! I just started plus size modeling and have been 5 or 6 pattern covers now. Both kids model as well, I suppose you can call us “One Big Modeling Family. I’m probably the biggest book whore, I know. I love books of all genres and get excited when I’m introduced to a new author. I’m often told I act like a kid in the candy shop, which I could totally see!  A few fun facts about me: 1. My daughter Jessalyn is my most favorite person in the world. 2. I'm probably the biggest book whore there is. 3. I love music of any kind, but better yet, I love singing. 4. I hate cold/wet weather. 5. I wear at least four different colors at once. 6. I have the most awesome group of friends a gal can have: Jamie, Lisa, Chris, Patricia, Shannon, April, Crystal and Annelle. Love you, ladies! 7. I would love one day to meet Alice Clayton, Christina Lauren, A.M. Willard, Jamie McGuire, and so many others. 8. I’m completely addicted to tattoos and piercings. 9. I’m very random, and will say crazy stuff out of nowhere. 10. I can tell you every word from beginning to ending of Wallbanger by Alice Clayton and One Night Series by A.M. Willard.

    Chapter 1

A close up of a fish Description automatically generated

I’D ALWAYS WONDERED if I’d know when I met the person I wanted to share my life with.

Since I was a weird kid, I’d asked my mother about this very notion...the one.

Momma, how do you know when you’ve found your person?

My person? She smiled from the kitchen island. It was the weekend and the only time she ever actually cooked. Typically Rosita, our cook, took care of it, but father insisted that at least one day a week, the family was to break bread over a real prepared meal. This meant momma was slaving away.

Yes, momma, my person. How will I know when I’ve fallen in love?

Momma stopped kneading her dough and smiled at me. My baby. Wiping her hands off, she came to sit beside me. You’ll just know. You’ll feel it in the pit of you. You’ll ache when they are gone. Feel as though a very piece of you is missing.

"Is that how you feel? When Dad is away?"

Her hand palmed my cheek, and her smile lessened. Your daddy and me were convenient. Do I love him? Yes, in my way, but I love what he does for us more.

She must have seen the distress in my face because she quickly continued.

Baby, you’re secure. You’ll never want or struggle. You will be free to love with all of you. Like you always do. My hopes for you, Ritchie, and Reina are so very high. She’d kissed my cheek and then went back to her dough, all smiles when my dad appeared.

She died a few months later, but I have carried her words and observations with me for years. Our dad is a hard man, not very loving, but I still had Rosita, and Carmine, who took care of me. Then it happened. Last fall, I fell.

The one indulgence our dad allowed was letting us choose our high school experience. As the son of Georgia’s third wealthiest family, my desire for the public school experience was much like me strange. I’m pretty sure I’ve been left to my own devices because he thinks I’m gay but refuses to speak of it. That’s the kind of man he is. We don’t speak of feelings or unpleasantries. We pretend everything is perfect, even when it’s far from so. He’s got my brother Ritchie, so he just pretends I don’t exist for the most part. I’m happy to stay out of the way.

It was a crisp November night when I first spied Hazel Greathouse. I was watching the Seder Point Scoundrels get annihilated by the North Shore Seahawks. Rival schools just minutes from each other, that shared some common space. Ragin Ravin’s Roller Rink and Ice Pavilion. My friends were talking about going while I lamented the loss of our team. My eyes roamed over the field, then I felt a sudden crack. It was like I’d been hit in the nuts as my eyes caught a flicker of yellow move amongst the black and blue of the crowd across the field.

Seeing her, it was like the world fell away, and everything got hazy. She was moving out of the bleachers and straight for the concessions. This beauty in a damn son, yellow hoodie, had me tied up in knots, and I couldn’t even see her face. Just an idea of
