    Dedicated to all Christian martyrs.

And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

    Hebrews 8:11

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from The Savior of the world is communicated to us through this Book.

    FOREWARD

A familiar phrase is society is going to hell in a handbasket. Today we live in an age where political correctness is at war with Biblical correctness. In too many situations evil is considered good, and good is considered evil.

We live in a time when Christianity is mocked by celebrities, and Hollywood films and television programs blaspheme the LORD’S name without guilt, shame, or reservation.

Like the ancient Israelites who sacrificed their children to the fires of Baal, America is also guilty of murdering its children. Abortion is no longer considered evil, but good.

In addition, the pornography industry is a billion dollar business. However, the price is hefty considering it has wrecked many homes, lead to destructive addictions, and ruined lives.

Like Lot’s wife—who disobeyed God and could not control her impulse to look back and was turned into a pillar of salt—many people refuse to give up the sin in their lives. For example, the abuse of drugs—including opioids and alcohol—have become major epidemics.

Many American families are dysfunctional. It has become the norm for too many men to abandon their families and refuse to pay child support. In addition, parents often lack basic parenting skills; instead of being a parent, they are more focused on being their child’s friend. Unfortunately, over half of all marriages end in divorce within 5-10 years.

Not only has God been kicked out of homes, He has also been kicked out of society. The results have been devastating. Violent crimes are on the rise. Massacres and shootings now occur in places once deemed safe such as schools, churches, movie theaters, concerts, baseball parks, and work places. Prisons and jails are overcrowded. There are not enough police officers to fight the upswing of crimes. Police officers are being ambushed and murdered. Mobs have turned to the streets to vent their frustrations, oftentimes injuring and killing others and burning businesses to the ground.

How can we end all of this? Do we need to pass more laws? Do we need fewer guns? Do we need more prisons? Do we need to increase security? Do we need more taxes? Do we need a bigger government?

The answer is found in II Chronicles 7:14, which states, If my people, which are called by name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

When we recognize that the Bible—one of God’s greatest gifts to man—is the answer to all of our problems, only then will we have true revival in our homes, communities, and nation.

This daily devotional was written to encourage individuals to read the entire Bible from the Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelation within one entire year. It is a great companion to Daily Bible Study 101: Questions & Answers, a book that contains 20 multiple choice questions that coincide with a daily reading schedule that helps the reader to read the entire Bible within one year.

One final note, in addition to reading the Bible, one must also heed its warnings and do what it says in order to receive true success.
