About this ebook
Fantasy football has become one of my favorite pastimes of tens of millions of American males, and there are literally hundreds of websites, books, magazines, and television shows designed to tell you everything you need to know about the subject. Almost everything, that is.
Anyone who has ever tried to find a definitive way to rank players for their fantasy draft or worse, find dollar values for auction-style leagues - knows the difficulty of finding a system that works for their leagues. Because leagues vary according to size, rules, and scoring systems, a player who may be a valuable commodity in one league may be below average in another. Therefore, the "one size fits all" rankings or valuations that you see most places can be useless. And even if those rankings were designed specifically for leagues like yours, values and rankings are normally assigned in a subjective manner, without any mathematical evidence to support the author's case.
The Winner's Guide to Drafting a Fantasy Football Team has a timeless solution to the problem of finding customized and accurate rankings and dollar values that work for any fantasy league. Author Chris Lee explains what constitutes value, and how that value can be translated to rankings and dollar values for any league, in a common-sense way that removes the guesswork that's at the foundation of most ranking and dollar valuation systems.
Simply put, if you know what kind of statistics a player is going to produce in the coming year, you'll know where to draft him or how much to pay for him at your draft. This proven system has helped Chris win many leagues. By following the steps in this book, you can build a spreadsheet that will help you win yours as well..

About the Author
Introduction
Welcome! Whether you are a rookie or a veteran of fantasy football, this book will give you an outstanding chance to succeed at your draft. From there, executing draft strategies and picking the right players is up to you. But I can promise you that if you spend just a few hours reading this book, I’ll help you set up a ranking system (or a valuation system, if your league uses an auction format) that will give you an enormous advantage over your competitors for years to come.
However, I have two disclaimers:
1. The purpose of this book is not to tell you how to evaluate talent or tell you which specific players to draft. Instead, its aim is to provide timeless advice on how to take your opinions of particular players (or those opinions of a service to which you subscribe), translate them into meaningful statistics that predict what a player will do in the coming season, then turn those numbers into a ranking or valuation system. So if you need to know whether to take Tony Romo or Jay Cutler as your quarterback this year, look elsewhere. Again, what this book gives you is timeless advice, so that even if you pick this book up and all players mentioned in it are out of football, it will still be a tremendous help.
2. This book is not a comprehensive work on how to win at fantasy football. I’ve played for many years and won a number of titles. Even when I didn’t win, I have almost always finished second or third. My area of expertise is in valuation as opposed to talent evaluation or trading. I have won leagues where I didn’t know as much as my competitors, or spend the time they did poring over free agent lists or working the phone trying to make trades. While I have certainly been competent in those areas, I have won my leagues largely with how I valued players and what I did on draft day, so that is what I will focus on here.
In a nutshell, this book is about helping you build a customized rankings list or set of dollar values within your league’s rule and roster restrictions, which will give you an enormous advantage over your competitors. The more complicated your league’s rules, or the more complex the scoring system, the bigger your advantage should grow over the owners in your league who are using a generic tip sheet from a magazine or a web site, or those who have simply arbitrarily assigned their own rankings or dollar values to players.
I am so confident that this book will be of use to you that I believe you could literally use the information in this book and draft a respectable fantasy team even if you otherwise have minimal knowledge of fantasy football or the players you are drafting. In addition, the book is set up in simple, logical steps so that those of you who have never even used a spreadsheet or are mathematically-challenged can easily follow along.
Because there may be several steps to finding a valuation system that adapts to your particular league and its rules, I’m going to start the book by showing how to value players in the simplest of leagues and then add elements to help those of you who play in more complicated leagues, where deep benches and flex
or utility
players come into play. For simplicity’s sake, I’m going to walk you through the process of valuation before I tell you how to set up a spreadsheet. I’m doing this for two reasons. Those of you who are
