A Tree’s Tale
Blowing in the wind, her leaves flutter to and fro.
She remembers the days of yesteryear when she
Was just a mere sapling, so long ago, so long ago.
Today she stands tall and bears fruit and comfort
In the form of a shady place to sit during a warm
Summer’s day. She remembers when the children
Would climb high up into her branches just to find
A spot to retreat from the hassles of living. She too
Remembers when their mother would bake pies
Utilizing the fruit she had given her; she someTymes
Would reward them with a cobbler or two. She also
Is reminded of their father on whose land she stood
Proudly upon. He would make a delightful apple wine
And share it with the neighbors in the Winter on a chilly
Evening. She felt the wind tickling her as she swayed
With the air moving in and all around her and if you
Listen carefully to her soft spoken sounds you knew
That she was waiting just for you to come and take a
Siesta along with her on this truly special day.
Afterlife?
Once the rulers of the world
Came up with an ingenious plan,
Scaring humans into submission
Controlling the minds of man.
They made up a place called Heaven
The reward for the young and old,
Attained by living by their rules
With pearly gates and streets of gold.
Ruled over by a deity they call God
Where angels fly and angels sing,
And if He
so decided it
You too, would get your wings.
In Heaven life is perfect
You’ll find your true desires,
No you won’t age another day
And you’ll sing in angelic choirs.
Then they created Hades
Where devils rule and oversee,
And if you don’t live as you’re told
You will burn for all eternity.
No, Hades has no angels
Just demons and evil beasts,
Who taunt and torture for all Tyme
Just Pandemonium without peace.
And Satan, it is said, they say
Rules over this place called Hell,
Where souls are burned and tortured
In this place where evil dwells.
Then they said, when God returns
He will raise the dead from the Earth,
Bringing back the chosen few
To live in his place of mirth.
In Heaven, God is the master
And humans, just his sheep,
Ruled over by an iron fist
Those souls he’s chosen to keep.
No, I don’t believe in slavery
Ruled over by a Godly man,
I just believe in the Golden Rule
Treat others the best that you can.
No, there is no heavenly afterlife
We won’t be raised from the dead,
So live your life to the fullest
And heed these words that I’ve said.
All About Her
Her ears picked up the slightest sound.
Outside she could hear the noises of a
Family of nesting birds, just under the sill.
She paces to and fro as she fantasizes about
