About this ebook

Connie Mae Mann was born in Memphis, Tennessee. She now resides in Chicago, Illinois. She is the fourth child of seven sisters. She is seventy-eight years old.

Connie earned an associate’s degree in applied science from Malcolm X College and worked in a medical laboratory for five years.

She also earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Roosevelt University and a master’s degree in education/administration from Governors State University. She is now a retired Chicago public school teacher, where she taught for twenty-seven years.

I have written a book of poems and many short stories. The story of Alan the Butterfly is one story that connected with everyone. It came about one day while I was sitting at my desk in my classroom. I saw a butterfly resting on the windowsill. After it stayed there for a while, I started pondering as to where it could be going. I gave it a place to go, a reason why, and a journey to experience. I named him Alan.

I hope you enjoy reading about Alan as much as I enjoyed writing his story. I also hope to publish his sequel. Thanks.

Author

Connie Mann

Connie Mann is a licensed boat captain and loves writing romantic suspense stories set in Florida’s small towns and unspoiled wilderness. She is the author of Beyond Power and Beyond Risk in the Florida Wildlife Warriors series. She also wrote the Safe Harbor series, Angel Falls, and Trapped! After shivering through too many northern winters, this weather wimp has happily called warm, sunny Florida home for more than twenty years. When she’s not dreaming up plotlines, you’ll find “Captain Connie” on Central Florida’s waterways, introducing boats full of schoolchildren to their first alligator. She is also passionate about helping women and children in developing countries break the poverty cycle and build a better future for themselves and their families. When they’re not on the water, she and her husband can be found hanging out with their grown children and extended family or planning their next adventure.
