If we had another chance ...
At one point, she appears in a Library, La Biblioteca de la Medianoche, a magical place in a way, where an old friend will offer her the possibility to choose everything she would have liked to do in her life or to put everything aside. that he would not have done, appearing instantly in that dream life.

PLOT
The novel begins with a shocking revelation: Nora Seed, the main character, will attempt suicide 19 years after the events of the Prologue. The Prologue takes place in the Hazeldene School library, where Nora is playing chess with Mrs. Elm, the school librarian.
To her father's chagrin, Nora has recently retired from competitive swimming. She is now concerned about her future. Mrs. Elm reminds Nora that she can go wherever she wants and be whoever she wants. Mrs. Elm, in particular, encourages Nora to leave Bedford and pursue a career in glaciology. Mrs. Elm informs Nora that her father has died of a heart attack a short time later. Mrs. Elm consoles a bereaved Nora.
The story is set 19 years in the future. Nora is still in Bedford, living a drab existence. Nora's cat, Voltaire, dies in two days, her estranged brother visits town but ignores her, she is fired from her job at the music store String Theory, and her only music student, Leo, cancels his lessons.
