About this ebook

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Book Preview:

#1 I was determined to wake up at 5:30 every morning, even if it took me all year. I was able to wake up at 5:30, but my 9:30 bedtime snuck up faster and faster, and I had to make the choice between staying up late and waking up early.

#2 I eventually realized that I actually hated going to bed early, and I preferred to meditate, work out, read, and plan out my day later on in the day when I had more energy and attention.

#3 The same is true of productivity itself. It is one of the hardest things to do, and if it were easy, it wouldn’t be worth doing.

#4 Having a purpose behind your actions is just as important as achieving them. If you don't care about the changes you're trying to make, it will be difficult to sustain them over time.

I was determined to wake up at 5:30 every morning, even if it took me all year. I was able to wake up at 5:30, but my 9:30 bedtime snuck up faster and faster, and I had to make the choice between staying up late and waking up early.

The same is true of productivity itself. It is one of the hardest things to do, and if it were easy, it wouldn’t be worth doing.

    #4

Having a purpose behind your actions is just as important as achieving them. If you don't care about the changes you're trying to make, it will be difficult to sustain them over time.

    #5

Values are worth thinking about when planning on making major changes to your life. If you had taken just a few minutes to think about how waking up early was connected with what you deeply cared about, you could have saved yourself months of willpower and sacrifice.

    #6

The first productivity challenge is to read this chapter. It will take you less than ten minutes and all you need is a pen and a sheet of paper. Don’t waste any of your time, because it’s the most valuable and limited resource you have.

    #7

To figure out if a change is meaningful to you, ask yourself: I deeply care about this because. If you find yourself coming up with a lot of values you deeply care about, chances are you care about the goal on a deep personal level and the change is worth making.

    #8

I wanted to see how much meditation and slowing down impacted my productivity, so I conducted an experiment that meditated for 35 hours over six days. I was able to remain as productive as possible during the time when I wasn’t meditating, so I could observe the day-to-day effects of meditation on my energy levels, focus, and productivity.
