    Chapter 1

    The working environment

    This chapter recalls the basics of the Powerpoint working environment. You will discover the menus, the panes, the layouts, the placeholders for entering text, and the features for saving the presentation.

    1.1 The different menus

    When the application is started, the menus and the ribbon are immediately available for the slides management work.

    Figure 1.1 shows this organization.

    The left vertical pane shows different slides available in the Powerpoint environment. When you create a new presentation, Powerpoint displays only one slide. It's up to you to insert new slides. Thereafter, it is very easy to copy-paste, delete, move, hide any slide, thanks to the mouse right click button, which is a very helpful tool.
