OVERVIEW
Kazuo Ishiguro's dystopian science fiction novel Klara and the Sun was released in March 2021 by the British novelist Kazuo Ishiguro. The story is set in the near future in the United States and is narrated by Klara, an android created to give children with companionship. Her journey as an Artificial Friend
to a young, unwell child whose DNA has been tweaked for greater academic achievement is chronicled in the novel.
Klara debuted on the New York Times fiction best-seller list after being published by Faber and Faber in the United Kingdom and Alfred A. Knopf in the United States.
SUMMARY
Most rich families in the world of Klara and the Sun pay to have their children lifted,
a genetic engineering treatment that improves intellectual performance, without which there are few educational and career options. Children have limited opportunities to socialize since they take lessons with online teachers.
As a result, wealthy families purchase android AFs (Artificial Friends) to keep their youngsters entertained. Klara begins in an AF store with her pal Rosa and other androids. Manager
directs and cares for them, and they take turns manning the store window. Klara is exceptionally perceptive and skilled at recognizing and interpreting emotional signs. After mistaking a homeless man waking up for a healing miracle, Klara learns to regard the sun as an omniscient creature with exceptional abilities.
A large industrial machine named the Cootings Machine has been parked in front of the store for several days, and the smoke it produces has obscured the sunshine.
The AFs are visited by a variety of children
