About this ebook

A Vampire prince has to choose between love and honor, but the wrong choice can cost him his life.

When Theo Montreal, the crown prince of the vampires, chose the throne, he did not know what it would do to his Ahmdahney, a rare sacred love bond he shares with a witch, Helga Saffron.

Forced to marry Monique Von Eck, a vampire duchess, Theo buried the past and focusses on Beamoore’s future, especially the hostility surrounding the half breeds, also known as hybrids.

Until Helga comes back to claim what is rightfully hers.

    About the Author

To Maddison and Jamie-Leigh. My life without you would be dull.

    One

    THEO MONTREAL

Quarter past ten was the time that showed on my watch as my breath caught in my chest. It was more or less the time my life was going to change. The time that I was going to hurt the only person who had probably ever loved me.

It was a full moon tonight, and I couldn’t delay the most arduous task that was placed on my shoulders any longer. My fingers brushed through my hair as tears blurred my sight.

A vampire crying? What a joke.

Father’s tone reprimanding me for loving a witch played like a broken record in the back of my mind. It mocked me.

He never knew what love was. Didn’t own an ounce of love for my mother. He didn’t care for her the way I cared for Helga.

Who cared if she was a witch and our love was forbidden?

Moonbeams lit up the weather-worn stone pillars. My gaze trailed to the half-crumbling building. They stopped on the figure, sitting on top of the meandering tree-root that had broken the stone wall.

A howling breeze caressed my ear. Earthy scents of moist dirt and dead leaves trailed along, filling my nostrils.

This was it, the night I was going to tear my soul open, if I even had one, and take it out of my body to crush it.

Helga had always owned my heart. Her number one strength was her beauty. She was the prettiest of the seven Saffron sisters. Why she fell for a blood-sucking creature like me beats the hell out of me, but she did, and tonight I was going to break it off.

She had tied her long brown hair into a bun as she pulled the fur shawl tighter around her shoulders. I didn’t feel the cold. Vampires didn’t feel things like cold and warmth. We stayed indoors during the day, but it was because the sun irritated us, not because it killed us.

The stories had it so wrong—igniting into flames. Now that was a joke.

I took the first step and glided over to the woman who owned my heart. I tuned into her heartbeat that thrummed behind her ribcage. She was excited, thinking this was our new beginning.

I came closer. She still hadn’t picked up that I was here. My gaze landed on the bag that was waiting at her feet.

She jumped as she looked up and saw me. Her laughter bubbled from her lips as she clutched her chest. All dramatic effects because her power was her other strength.

Her laughter disappeared as her gaze landed on my hands. Where is your bag, Theo?

I lowered my head, staring at the dead clumps of grass.

    Theo?

My gaze flickered and met hers. She was still smiling.

    Where is your bag?

I shook my head and closed my eyes.

Her fingers clasped around my arm. Don’t shake your head. We had a deal. We are the key to the rebellion. They won’t listen if the crown prince of the vampires won’t stand with us.

I can’t, love. It’s not as simple as you make it out to be.

I didn’t say it would be simple. We are turning our backs on what we are and fighting for a chance to love who we want to love. It was never about how easy it would be, but what is right.

Is that right? What sort of life will our offspring have? Half a vampire, half a witch. Helga, c’mon. The world would not accept them.

Her hand brushed softly against my skin. I didn’t feel the warmth, but inside was a burning flame. It was her touch. She warmed me up from the inside. She made me want to forget who I was, what I was.

Then we make them. The tone in her voice was cold. It
