    Chapter 1

Last day of high school and I’m stoked. All I’ve thought about is what I want to do all summer now that I’m eighteen. As I walk in the front door, I take in the person I’m looking for kicked back on the sofa. Hey, dude! What’s up?

Jinx ignores me; he’s been doing that a lot lately. I swear he has been replaced with an alien from another planet. We are twins, but we look and act nothing alike. I’m taller by two inches. He has green eyes, mine are blue.  My hair is slightly longer. Jinx is more of a recluse, and I’m the get out there and live life type. I reach over and grab his bag of chips, and he gives me this ‘what the hell look.’

I laugh at the scowl on his face. Hey, dude, calm down I don’t want your food I just wanted your attention for a minute or two.

Hey, Salem I didn’t hear you come in.

So, it does speak. I laugh at him while he stares up at me as if I’ve grown a second head.

My brother then finds his voice again to ask, Salem, have you given any thought about what you’re going to do now that school is out?

A smirk makes its way across my face. Well, I was thinking about spending it with Bella, you know the hottie next door.

Jinx rolls his eyes leaving me confused, I have no idea what his expression means. He knows I want her, I’ve had a crush on her since she moved in next door last year with her brother Enzo. The thing is I’m known as the high school playboy and have girls running around after me. I have held myself back though with hopes of winning the girl of my dreams. Bella is different from the others.  She is kind, and the way she looks at me with those violet eyes of hers just melts me. There is just one problem, or so I thought only one.

When I mentioned Bella’s name, I noticed the expression on his face.  Oh! No! It can’t be. My mind ventures to a place it doesn’t want to go. There is only one way I can handle this.  I look him right in the eye and ask him point blank, do you have an issue with me wanting to make a move on Bella? Tell me, brother of mine, do you want her too?

Waiting for his answer I ask myself, why would he want her? He hasn’t shown any interest or made a move towards her that I’m aware of.  My brother is a recluse, more or less, he would have only seen her at school. He has always got his head in a book or his laptop. A Geek! That’s what he is.

Jinx clears his throat which brings my attention back to him. He peers up at me with a weird look on his face. Fuck!

Don’t forget, brother, I can read your thoughts, even though we agreed not to do that to each other.

To make myself perfectly clear, Salem, I don’t want Bella or any girl for that matter. Jinx snapped back angrily at me.

    Chapter 2

Wow, talk about being slapped in the face. Jinx just told me he doesn’t want my Bella or any other girl for that matter? What does that mean? I believe it’s time for my brother and me to have a serious talk. I know things have been going on in that head of his and he has become withdrawn lately, but I let it be, to give him space. Well, move over space, because I am taking my brother back. I don’t want him to think he is alone and has no one to talk to. No matter what is going on in our weird family.

So I guess it’s time I let the cat out of the bag. Ha! Get it? No, I’m sure you don’t...yet.  But let me tell you a bit about our family.

Jinx and I were born eighteen years ago to shifter parents. What does that mean exactly? Well, we are like everyone else
