About this ebook

We all experience moments of sadness or heartache in our lives, some more than others. But few of us take the time to record our thoughts as we work our way through those times. Mostly we push on through to a brighter place and leave the unhappy memories behind us. But some take the time and care to reflect and document their feelings and in My Sad Little Diary you will find a collection of poetry that digs deep into the emotion of sadness in its many forms. From the pain of a love lost to the unhappiness of loneliness and uncertainty, through abandonment and beyond, Katie Moehrig takes the reader on a rollercoaster ride of raw sentiment and passion that is seldom found in a book such as this. With each poem simply numbered it is left to the reader to imagine a title and to take what they can from the unremitting sadness, to help them rebuild their own shattered feelings. It is a book filled with angst but when you take time to read between the lines you will also see the green shoots of hope that are waiting to burst forth. Dip in and out whenever you feel the need to understand that you are never alone and that sadness is not something that is unique but affects each of us.

My Sad Little Diary - Katie Moehrig

    Sink or Swim

It’s time to sink or swim.

If I decide to quit this

To sink and just let go

    There’s no hope of landing

Like I have while I’m afloat

If I decide to swim again

    But never reach the shore

I will regret the time I spent

    Thinking there was more

I must decide, I must now

I’m in this way too deep

    Should I quit this struggle

    And forever go to sleep?

The night, I hear, is calling

My chance to win is slim

But it’s better to try than just let go

    So I begin to swim.

    Part One

    Poem 103

    Once you’ve tasted ecstasy,

    Happiness just feels lonely.

I’ve had the best so good is not enough.

The saddest part of losing you

Is knowing no one else will do.

I’ve had the best where do I go from here?

    Poem 111

forget the feelings i once had

    and everything we shared

forget the places we have gone

    and that you ever cared

just leave me and walk away

    forget we ever were

so i’ll forget what once was

    and go on as before

    Poem 113

Don’t you think I know that?

    Don’t you think I’ve seen?

Don’t you think I’ve had to feel

    The fault of everything?

Don’t you think I’ve kicked myself

    A thousand times and more?

    I’ve hurt someone so dear to me;

It wounds me to my core.

    Don’t you
