About this ebook

The Father's Touch International Ministry continues to grow within the Western Hemisphere and overseas.

The ministry is still dedicated to helping individuals with unwanted same-sex attraction and gender confusion, as well as, with drug abuse, poverty, and spiritual emptiness.  This fifteenth novel centers on a young man named Caleb who is destined to be a mystic and gives dire warnings to individuals and nations.  He is a follower of Jesus Christ but wants to deepen his knowledge of his Jewish roots, so he attends a school in Israel.  However, no matter where he goes danger follows him.  Besides foreign governments wanting to know what he knows, even the U.S. government pursues him for the same reason. Inevitably he, along with his family, has to go into hiding.  Such is the price to pay for representing God!

Perry Riff

Perry Riff continues to write novels to inform the public about a subject that is unpopular with the mainstream media. From his experiences in education, rehabilitation, and addiction counseling he has come to realize that there are spiritual components that should be considered in counseling individuals requesting help for their complex problems. DEDICATION

This novel is dedicated to all the young children, teenagers, and adults who are struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction. These individuals may have been exposed to pornography, homosexual acts, and gay propaganda which affected their minds and emotions. They deserve help developing a healthy positive image of themselves in light of the gospel and proper psychological assistance. Children also under the legal age of consent need protection and support.

    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Through counseling and the facilitating of support group meetings, the author learned about the struggles of individuals desiring to leave the gay lifestyle, or not wanting to become part of it. These individuals deserve all the help and support they can get. There is a wealth of resources to help them affirm their God-given and biological gender. However, the government has sought to interfere with their right to choose these resources and the counselors that affirm their true gender identity and values. Despite being politically incorrect, traditional Christians and Conservative psychologists are doing their best to help the hurting. We owe them gratitude and respect.

    THE ANOINTING FORETOLD

The Father’s Touch International Ministry was ending thirty years of service to the nation and other countries around the world. Its primary focus was to help individuals with unwanted same-sex attraction and gender identity issues. Still, different needs popped up depending on which country its centers were located. Bruce Stout continued to be its director, Perry Vitale the assistant director, and Bob Blinken the secretary.

Perry, I think we should finalize the plans for celebrating our ministry’s thirtieth anniversary. Because of all the dangers we face, we may have to use Zoom as our means of communication. The Gay Enforcers and the Gay Riders have been attacking our staff members and centers. We can’t risk our members traveling here all at the same time, explained Bruce.

Perry responded, To keep the meeting within a certain time limit, I have asked certain guests to record their speeches ahead of time. The videos will be sent to our staff members by mail. With thirty years of history to cover we want to include as many people who were related to or knew our founders: Vance and Susan Gordon. Of Vance’s four children, Michael and Frankie are still alive. Unfortunately, Kathy and Tony died along the way. In regards to Susan, her daughter Sheryl is alive, but her son Bruce died all too soon.

Bruce explained further, We could include so many people who have made this ministry a success, but it would confuse people. Remember, Vance and Susan were married before, and after Vance died, Susan married again to Augustine Formoso. When she died, Augustine, who also was involved in the ministry, married Madeline. There were other relatives from the Gordon clan and Formoso clan that served in different capacities, some without a salary.

But the most unusual of those families is Susan’s grandson, Caleb, through her marriage to Augustine, noted Perry. That child has some strange powers that are beginning to surface as he gets older. He’s the only son of Augustine’s younger son Joseph. Both Joseph and his wife Marion are having a time trying to figure out what Caleb is going to do next. They never know when he is going into a trance or exercising some control over other people. But we’ll talk more about him later."

Bob Blinken brought in a big box of envelopes.

I know it would be easier just to use the computer to send out invitations, but I thought it would be more classy if I mailed out the embossed invitations. It’s not every year that one celebrates thirty years of accomplishments. And may I say, such accomplishments are at the risk of the lives and health of our directors and their families.

Bruce responded, Oh, you make me think of how the Gay Enforcers caused Brian Hall, our first official director to lose a leg, then Jerry Gilligan who was poisoned, Marilyn Rhodes who was shot to death, and Joseph Formoso who was shot but survived.

Perry interjected, But don’t forget how Augustine and his new bride Madeline were tricked by a G&E agent to fly in a private plane only to be killed deliberately when it crashed into a mountain. It makes me wonder Bruce how you could take this job knowing the terrible history attached to it.

Bruce paused for a moment and answered, Don’t feel sorry for me. I knew what I was getting into. I believe in this ministry so much that I am willing to take any reasonable risk. Now don’t forget that I’ve served in the Marines, worked as a policeman, and then retired after twenty years working for the FBI. I know a thing or two about watching out for danger, both for myself and those I’m responsible for.

Perry added, And that’s why Bob and I work for you. We wouldn’t be here if we didn’t trust your decisions. Neither one of us has had any military training or experience. So far we just took advantage of the self-defense courses offered by the ministry.

I hope you men realize that when you took those courses you were receiving the best available for civilians. Since I reorganized those courses, you and all our staff members around the world have the most updated information and training put out by the military. Of course, the training has been modified according to where one serves, whether stateside or in some country where there is civil unrest or absolute corruption, stated Bruce.

Bob opined, I’m amazed how you developed that cadre training program. It’s not typical for a ministry like ours. Who would have thought to train a team of men and women to go to a trouble spot in any part of the world and try to support our members, either to protect them or to evacuate them back to our country?

Bruce replied, In view of the many dangers we face as Christians and members of this ministry, we had to do something serious to help one another. We came to realize that we can’t always depend on the government, the military, or the police force to ensure our safety. I learned from my previous employment that there is a measure of corruption in all those organizations. If we Christians don’t look out for ourselves, who will?

Bob looked at the clock on the wall.

"It looks like we should order lunch now if we want to eat on time. Bruce, you have an appointment at 1:00 pm, and it’s 11:00 am now.

I suggest Chinese food. We haven’t had it in a while."

Both Bruce and Perry looked at Bob and shook their heads in the affirmative. Bob took the menu out of his pocket and gave it to them to share.

I knew you both would agree. Who doesn’t like Chinese food?

Half-joking, Bob said, We better get used to it, the Chinese are on the move to take over the world. Unless our leaders wise up and do not take money from them, we will not only be eating Chinese food, but we’ll be speaking Chinese!

    Recounting the founders’ past.

Vance Gordon, the ministry’s founder, was raised as a strict Catholic. His parents sent him, his sister Marion, and his younger brother Chad to Catholic schools up to the twelfth grade at a great sacrifice. Vance married Doreen, a practicing Catholic. They raised four children and also sent them to Catholic schools. They got involved in the Catholic Charismatic movement for a while and were acquainted with the Pentecostal gifts. After the movement died down they returned to their regular Catholic practices.

Vance, I know I should be terrified by the doctor’s diagnosis, but I believe the Lord will sustain me during this illness.

But Doreen, why did it have to happen to you? You’ve always been a faithful Catholic, attended Mass even during the week, and said the Rosary daily.

Darling, just remember many of the Catholic saints experienced tragedies in their lives. Even our Lord was cruelly whipped and crucified. Who can truly explain why I got breast cancer? It’s not that common in my family.

Just the same Doreen, I retired early from the company to take care of you. If I can take care of the soldiers as a medic in the midst of the Vietnam battles, I certainly can take care of you.

Resting in bed Doreen would moan from time to time because of the pain and the side effects of the medications.

She said, There’s one good thing. Our children are grown up and doing well, so you don’t have the burden of taking care of them and me.

Vance put his hands around her shoulders and said, "Doreen, don’t ever use that word burden again. You’re the love of my life. Thirty plus years of marriage have been the best years of my life. There was a time I thought I would die of the wounds I got in Vietnam, but God was merciful and not only let me live, but gave me you and the kids in time. What more can a man ask?"

He kissed her and let her sleep the rest of the afternoon. He went to the kitchen to make his version of chicken noodle soup, which he knew she liked it. Later he called their only daughter Kathy. She was working in Paris for an international company.

"Yes Kathy, she is resting now. She had a rough night. She told me she had a dream where an angel spoke with her. He supposedly told her that I would be involved in some sort of ministry and that a young boy would rise up to give it some sort of notoriety. She forgot the rest of the dream. I thought it was weird. What kind of ministry could that angel be speaking about? I’m just a family man with no special gifts.

Like other Catholics, I assume being involved in a ministry is something priests, nuns, and monks do."

Dad, maybe those medications are working on her mind. I wish I could help you with her care but you know Andre has given me so much responsibility in his company. I have to travel to India next week to make a deal with a large perfume company.

Kathy, I know you would if you could. But fortunately, things are manageable here. If I feel I need a nap, Maria covers for me. She’s more than just a part-time housekeeper. She’s my right-hand man.

Vance knew Kathy had a sexual relationship with Andre, a married man, and a multi-millionaire.

By the way, how is Andre? Is he better since his heart attack?

"Oh, he’s doing much better. He stops in the office from time to time.

I’ve hired an assistant to help me handle all the business decisions.

I figured he has to take it easy from this point on. Confidentially, he has included me in his will should death come knocking at his door. He’s twenty years older than I am, so I have to be realistic about the future."

But doesn’t his wife and children get the bulk of his money?

Not really, Dad. He’s already given them tons of money and other assets throughout the years. He says under French law I can get as much as he wishes to leave me. If I have to go to court to fight against his family, I will. They’ve done nothing for him over the past ten years and didn’t even bother to visit him at the hospital.

Just be careful, Kathy. I know you like being a workaholic. I hate to say it, but when your mother dies, you’ll be the only woman in our family to love.

Don’t worry Dad, I know when to take a break. I see that working for a high-paced business can ruin executives’ lives. I don’t intend to become a victim. I’m training my assistant to be capable of handling the business should I be absent for an extended weekend or an entire week. Right now with Andre almost out of the picture, I can’t get away for at least three months.

Vance ended the conversation and sat down to watch the ball game. His mind wandered to what life would be without Doreen. It was impossible to speculate what it would be. Truly they were two people in one flesh. He fell asleep in his chair. He started to dream.

Vance, said a young man, you must stay strong. I can’t help you because I have not been born yet. But someday, I will help your descendants minister to people in need. Your children will each experience a major trial and you must be supportive of them. Doreen is about to die. Be prepared. Remember, God’s grace is sufficient!

Vance woke up confused. He wasn’t used to getting a message in his dreams. He couldn’t use taking sedatives as an excuse for an unusual dream. He then heard Doreen calling for him.

Vance! Vance! The angels are coming for me.

    He ran to her bedside.

    What’s happening Doreen?

I dreamed angels were coming for me. They were so beautiful. Some just looked at me lovingly while others were singing a wonderful song about God’s love. I woke up not feeling any pain, but I feel so tired. Please hold me. I think it is time for me to go.

Not now Doreen. Hold on! I need you a little longer.

Feeling very weak Doreen responded, It’s up to the Lord, not me. I feel so tired. Promise me you’ll find a woman worthy of your love. You’ve been such a wonderful husband to me. Pray for me and the child…

Doreen could not finish the last word. Her spirit left her body. Vance cried profusely. He held on to her for several minutes before accepting that she was becoming a cold corpse. He fell to the floor and continued to cry for thirty minutes. Then he called the funeral parlor which was on call for this event.

The funeral was solemn. There was the Catholic Mass, the service at the cemetery, and the repast at an area restaurant. Vance was very depressed and didn’t quite welcome the people’s condolences. His sons, Michael, Tony, and Frankie, and their wives attended. On short notice, Kathy couldn’t make it. He understood her circumstances.

Afterward, his cousin Francine, who was adopted into her parents’ family, visited him at his home.

Vance, you look terrible. These five years of caring for Doreen have worn you down. Now you should think about taking a trip somewhere to ease your mind.

Francine always spoke from the hip. They had always liked each other.

Francine, I’m not in the mood of thinking about enjoying myself somewhere else on this earth. Doreen’s on my mind day and night. It can’t be helped.

You’ve had a wonderful life with Doreen except for the last five years. You’ve done without the intimacy of a loving woman, now’s your chance to make up for it. You’re still young enough to begin over again.

How can you talk like this Francine? My wife’s in the ground, and you act like I can get over her in just a couple of days. Just wait till your husband dies. You’ll have more sympathy for me.

Come on Vance! You know I wouldn’t care if he died. We just happen to live in the same house. He has his girlfriends, and I occasionally have my boyfriends. At least I have my children to keep me connected to other human beings. Just let me know when you want my attention. I would be happy to give you the love you deserve whether in this living room or in your bed. Meanwhile, I have to go shopping.

Francine leaned over and kissed him on the lips, as he turned away.

Don’t worry Vance. I know you’ll warm up to me once things settle down. If Doreen had not married you, I would have!

Brian Hall was Vance Gordon’s nephew. He too got involved eventually in helping the ministry move forward. But that wasn’t to happen for several years. Brian didn’t know at first that his uncle fell into a relationship with gay guys at the local gym. Vance’s depression made him forget his Catholic roots, and twisted his desire to have physical intimacy toward other men.

Uncle Vance, I guess you know I’ve been acting strange since I returned from my tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. The VA doctors tell me I suffer from PTSD. Maybe so. I have to confess that I don’t just fool around with women. I now fool around with men. There is one particular friend I have sex with regularly. His name is Mel and he attends college like me. We have a hard time finding a place to do our thing together. Would it be possible to use your house when you’re out at night?

Vance didn’t feel he should disclose his own sexual activities, so he simply gave Brian permission. He rather sees his nephew act out in a safe environment than in a car or in a park.

Sure, Brian. With my children on their own, and your aunt deceased, I have a lot of room in this house. I think I’ll be having some of my friends here once in a while playing cards now that I have all this time on my hands.

Brian used the home several times with Mel and they never ran into Vance or his friends. However, Vance changed the card playing date without informing Brian. When Brian showed up he wondered if he and Mel could still use one of the bedrooms.

Brian, I see you and Mel are here. Oh, I forgot to tell you! I’ve changed the date. Well, just take Mel upstairs and act like you’re using the computer in one of our spare rooms. That should work out.

Vance and his gay friends were loud and smoked cigars. There was a break when Vance went into the kitchen to provide appetizers and more drinks. Two men went upstairs to the bathroom. They started to engage in sex when Brian stepped in to take a piss. He tried to act nonchalant.

Excuse me, gentlemen, I didn’t know you were here. I’ll use the other bathroom.

For some reason, Brian felt he should inform his uncle about the situation. He assumed Vance didn’t know that some of his friends were homosexuals. He approached Vance in the kitchen.

Uncle Vance, I think I should tell you that there are two men upstairs having sex in your bathroom.

Surprised, but acting coy, Vance responded, Oh, I think they must have had too much to drink. I’ll straighten them up right now!

Vance did interrupt the men and made them go back to their seats.

When all the men finally left, Vance explained to Brian that the two men were new acquaintances and he didn’t know about their sexual proclivities. The lie worked for the moment.

Vance got involved intensely with the gay community for over two years. Along the way, he had one-on-one hook-ups and helped coordinate orgies that housed up to forty men. He met Susan Tyer at the Catholic Services office when he volunteered to assist immigrants wanting to learn the English language. She too lost a spouse and fell into a relationship with another woman. Vance started to date her and had sex with her and her lesbian friend. He even had sex with Francine after she hounded him. He was so conflicted
