Description

September 18, 1966. Kenilworth, Illinois. 21-year old Valerie Percy, the daughter of Illinois Senatorial candidate Charles Percy, is bludgeoned and stabbed to death in her bedroom by an unknown intruder who has broken into her family’s affluent home. Valerie’s stepmother enters the room and catches a brief glimpse of the perpetrator, but he manages to flee the scene. Over the years, numerous potential suspects would pop up on the radar, but no one is conclusively linked to the crime. Could Valerie have been the victim of a burglary gone wrong? Or was the killer a suspect whose family lived in the same neighbourhood? On this week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we examine the brutal unsolved murder of a victim who hailed from one of Illinois’s most prominent families.

“The Trail Went Cold” will be appearing on podcast row at CrimeCon 2018 from May 4th-6th at the Gaylord Opryland hotel in Nashville. Listeners can receive a 10% discount on their ticket purchase by using the code “TTWC”.
