Description
Narcissism seems to be one of the main buzzwords of the last decade and has people often wondering if they have a narcissist in their own life. By definition, narcissists are egotistical and showy but lack empathy for others because they view people as something to make them look better instead of something to love and care for, which makes having relationships with them very difficult.
In today’s episode, Quinn helps listeners understand:
What a narcissist feels like on the inside and what causes it
How they act in fights and why that’s difficult
And ways to set boundaries with them in order to guard your heart
Mind Renewal Tip:
To be healthy with a narcissist, we have to understand that we will never change them. We will learn how to change our responses to them to be healthy.
Scripture Renewal Tip:
He says, “But know this, that in the last days, perilous times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away.” 2 Timothy 3:1-7
Some phrases to say when setting boundaries with a narcissist:
We can talk about that later. But let’s stick to the subject.
As a matter of self-respect, I cannot do that.
I can’t control how you feel about me.
We both have the right to our own opinions. I can accept how you feel, and I need you to accept that I feel differently.
I don’t like being spoken to in that manner, so I’m not going to engage.
You can say you believe that to be true, but I know the truth and that is not true.
