Description
This is actually my 100th episode of the podcast. Can you believe it? It feels like it was yesterday that we started. I feel so proud of this. I am really excited about where we've been and where we're going. Listen in as I reflect our journey together and what’s ahead. We almost reached 150,000 downloads. When I tell other podcasters, that's the equivalent of saying, I've got a Ferrari. Right. When you say it, people are like, holy cow. So it's, it's caught on because I created this. Because you asked me and told me what you needed.Let’s talk about what we are focused on and what we need right now. I made my podcasts short with actionable tips and tools. As you know, everything I do is science-backed. I like to tell everybody, “I'm science in the front and woowoo in the back”. I'm super spiritual. I believe in a lot of things, but I know you need guidance from science. What's amazing in this journey is I've been able to teach everybody what I've been learning for 32 years. Why I started the “It’s Gonna Be OK” PodcastKids are dysregulated, right? What parents need and what parent kids need to know right now is that they have the power. They need to know what science is telling them. Nutrition and what supplements to take. How to manage those behaviors and implementing behavior hacks.I think more than anything that I see, both when people come out to see me, but also in just a lot of my questions that I get, is “how do I manage those little behaviors”? And so I started to do this Podcast for you all, and that has been an incredibly positive thing.I hope that I've inspired and empowered you. That's why I tell everybody It’s Gonna Be OK. For those of you that don't know where that name came from – it’s the name of my book. It’s what I tell everybody because they need to hear it. Because we're scared out of our freaking minds, right? You know that I talk about understimulated and overstimulated brains. It doesn't matter what the clinical diagnosis is, get rid of that. Everybody comes to me and thinks their kid's ADD and not even half of them really are. Somebody just flew out on an airplane and all I heard was they were ADD and it wasn't that. It wasn't that at all. There’s a lot of tears that happened because they had to let go of something that felt more accepted. But in the end, they were like, but we can address this. And I was like, of course you can. You can address anything. When we use science and getting yourself calm, not being perfect, but co-regulation. You have to put your own oxygen mask on more than anything. Our kids are watching what you're doing. They may not be listening to us, but they're watching us.It's okay to feel a lot of emotions, but you can't live there and we can't keep doing the same things and expecting a different result. So when we talk about clinical behaviors, right, you want more on clinical. A lot of times we need to look at science. That's what this show is all about.Looking Beyond Psychiatric MedicationWe need to look at the science beyond psychiatric medication because it is not working. We are having astronomical increases in suicidal ideation, clinical issues across the board. The number one issue in the world of all ages is anxiety. The number one. Clinical issue amongst children is ADHD and like literally just a couple points behind is anxiety. It's sort of an accepted standard in the world between adults and children. It shouldn't be. We need to prioritize and tend to our mental garden, both as parents. Which again isn't easy, especially when you have a kid who maybe has OCD or depression or pans or any of these issues, like, you know, we always want to say having a little ADHD, or being a dyslexic, like my John Carlo is like a piece of cake. Well, it's not, the road is hard.Whatever that challenge is. Yes, it's hard,...
