However, when he became Earl of Arundel, he bravely shouldered the responsibilities given to him and begin helping to hide undercover priests. His journey from rebellious teenager to a Catholic dissident teaches lessons of Trust, Courage, and Prudence.

As a young man, Philip is unsure of his faith and is rebellious toward his family and their expectations. An execution is implied. Several characters are imprisoned for their faith.
