Description

“Lived Through That” is the companion podcast to my book where I look at influential musicians of the 80s and 90s and where they are today. On this podcast, we’ll delve deeper into a single pivotal moment in the lives of some of the artists I feature in that book, as well as other artists I love and admire. The stories they tell are open, honest, and inspiring.
This week, we have guest David Newton from the Mighty Lemon Drops. A pivotal moment for David happened when he was just a schoolboy and went on a field trip to the Rock Against racism concert in London’s Victoria Park. Over 100,000 people were there to protest the rising number of racial attacks that were occurring in the United Kingdom -as well as to see bands like The Clash, Steel Pulse, and X-Ray Spex. This moment not only raised his awareness of political issues, it began a lifelong love of music and inspired him to form his own band.

Musical credits:
"Gymnopedies 2" by Blue Dot Sessions
"Crime and Corruption" from The Lowest Class
