Our primary dissatisfaction was related to the elevators. The system of selecting your room floor and waiting is incredibly inefficient. The elevators accumulates riders so that they were constantly over crowded and took way too long. This was more frustrating because there are a sufficient amount of elevators. There were multiple times when it took us almost 5 minutes to get to our room on 31st floor. The elevators also didn’t seem to have air conditioning, which made the delay and overcrowding even more unpleasant. Also, the configuration of the rooms does not provide adequate space for belongings and to a lesser degree for clothing. Because of this, we weren’t able to feel settled even though we stayed for 3 nights.

My girlfriend and I reserved a room with a view of the Empire State Building for our first ever visit to NYC. Our flights were delayed on the day that we were supposed to check in. There was only 1 person at the desk but it was almost 1am and there were no other customers. I was a bit apprehensive because there are some reviews that have negative things to say about the staff but my experience was flawless. He was very accomodating and professional and didn't charge us for the night since we couldn't arrive on time. You might read quite a few negative reviews regarding the elevator process... it's not that bad but it does require some explanation. In front of the elevators is a tablet. Go to any tablet, it doesn't matter which one. Tap your floor number and another number will appear on the tablet. The number that appears on the tablet will be the corresponding elevator number. The room itself was probably the cleanest hotel room I have ever been in. The bed was comfortable. Excellent water pressure from the shower. No outside noise from other guests. Stocked mini-fridge (with prices you'd expect from NYC). An absolutely amazingly view of the Empire State Building. And the window actually opens a pretty considerable amount! Download the Virgin Hotel app and you can control the temperature, TV, and use your phone as a room key. Ordering room service from the TV was convenient and easy. You can even check out from your TV to avoid lines at the desk when your stay is over.

We had a great view. The chamber view room felt a bit cramped, but not unbearable. My husband and I really loved the location. We walked to many places, including the Empire State Building. The food was average, the eggs at breakfast were too oily, so we stopped having breakfast at the hotel, despite having the breakfast package. That was our personal preference as there were other options to choose from. We definitely will visit again.

Me and my boyfriend just got back from a four day vacation to New York and had such an unbelievable time! We got the chamber Skyview and it was absolutely incredible! The staff was exceptional so kind every single day and made us feel so welcome. The restaurant also was absolutely fantastic! Definitely would recommend anyone visiting to stay here! Also, very close to everything on 10 experience will definitely come again :)

The property offered a pool as part of my booking, however after waiting for the pool to open the attendant rudely informed me a reservation was required for the seating for $130. The security the night before allowed everyone/anyone up the elevator to the pool and to any of the floors. I would recommend the security enforce only guests to be allowed past the lobby floor.
